Route 777 คือโครงการภาพถ่ายของช่างภาพชาวเกาหลีใต้ คิม ฮงฮี ได้เดินทางถ่ายภาพตามรอยเส้นทางของ ลี จุงฮวาน (พ.ศ. 2233-2299) นักวิชาการช่วงปลายยุคโชซอนที่ได้สำรวจพื้นที่ต่าง ๆ ทางภูมิศาสตร์ของเกาหลีอย่างละเอียด และเขียนวรรณกรรมคลาสสิกที่ชื่อ แทกรีจี ออกมา ฮงฮีเริ่มต้นด้วยถนนสายหลักของชาติที่เชื่อมต่อ ปาจู-มกโพ ไปตามแนวชายฝั่งตะวันตกนำไปสู่ปูซาน คือทางหลวงหมายเลข 77 และปูซานเชื่อมต่อกับ โกซอง-คังวอนโด ไปตามแนวชายฝั่งตะวันออกเรียกว่าทางหลวงหมายเลข 7 จึงเรียกเส้นทางการตามรอยครั้งแรกว่า Route 777
โครงการภาพถ่ายนี้อาจไม่ได้นำเสนอภาพถ่ายที่สวยงามของธรรมชาติ หรือวิพากษ์วิจารณ์ประเด็นทางสังคมใด ๆ หากงานของ คิม ฮงฮี เป็นการใช้ภาพถ่ายบันทึกประวัติศาสตร์ร่วมสมัยของมนุษยชาติที่ดำเนินผ่านปรากฏารณ์ต่าง ๆ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในช่วง โควิด-19 ระบาดอย่างหนักในประเทศเกาหลีใต้ ภาพถ่ายต่าง ๆ แสดงถึงภูมิทัศน์หลากหลายที่ฮงอีได้ไปเยือน, ภาพถ่ายของผู้คนที่พยายามที่จะใช้ชีวิตท่ามกลางผลกระทบจากเรื่องต่าง ๆ ที่ไม่ได้เฉพาะแค่เรื่องโรคระบาดเท่านั้น หากรวมถึงผลกระทบจากความขัดแย้งของสองเกาหลี รวมไปถึงแผนพัฒนาเมืองที่ล้มเหลวจนสถานที่ต่าง ๆ ถูกทิ้งร้างไม่ต่างจากเมืองในหนังซอมบี้ งานของฮงฮีจึงเป็นเสมือนงานกึ่งสารคดี ที่แม้ไม่ได้ให้ข้อมูลคาบสมุทรเกาหลีอย่างละเอียดเหมือน แทกรีจี แต่ได้สะท้อนต่อประวัติศาสตร์ของประเทศเกาหลี และความเป็นไปของโลกผ่านศิลปะภาพถ่าย การเชื่อมโยง ชีวิต-สถานที่ ได้อย่างสมดุล เรียบง่ายเหมือนดังบทกวี

คิม ฮงฮี ช่างภาพ กวี คอลัมนิสต์ชาวเกาหลีใต้ เกิดที่ปูซานเมื่อปี 1959 เขาศึกษาที่ Tokyo Visual Arts และกำลังดำรงตำแหน่งผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ในภาควิชา Photography and Imaging ที่ Busan Digital University ฮงฮีเคยจัดแสดงนิทรรศการภาพถ่ายมากมายทั้งในเกาหลีใต้และต่างประเทศ เคยได้รับเลือกให้เป็นหนึ่งใน 28 ศิลปินของเกาหลี, หนึ่งใน Korea's 500 Image Makers ใน Korea's Art Line 2000 โดยสภาศิลปะเกาหลี และหนึ่งใน The 20 World Photographers จากทาง Nikon ปัจจุบันอาศัยอยู่ที่เมืองปูซาน เป็นผู้นำของ Ilwoo กลุ่มช่างภาพที่มีบทบาททั้งในโซล ปูซาน และต่างประเทศ

Route 777 is a photographic project by South Korean photographer Kim Honghee which traces the path of Lee Joong-Hwan (1690–1756), a late Joseon-era scholar who conducted detailed geographical surveys across Korea and wrote the classic literary work Taekriji. Honghee began his journey along the nation's major roads, starting with the main route connecting Paju to Mokpo along the western coastline, Highway 77, which leads to Busan. From Busan, the route connects to Goseong and Gangwon-do along the eastern coastline, known as Highway 7. This initial route is referred to as Route 777 in Honghee's project.
This photographic project does not focus on presenting beautiful natural landscapes or critiquing some societal issues. Instead, Honghee's work uses photography to document the contemporary history of humanity as it unfolds through various phenomena, particularly during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in South Korea. the diverse landscapes that Honghee visited, as well as the lives of people trying to cope with the impacts of various challenges—not just the pandemic, but also the ongoing conflict between North and South Korea and failed urban development projects that have left some areas abandoned, like scenes out of zombie movies. Honghee's work is a semi-documentary project. While it does not provide detailed information like Taekriji, it reflects Korea's history and the state of the world through the art of photography. His work connects "life and place" with a balance and simplicity that feels like poetry.
About the Artist
Kim Honghee, a South Korean photographer, poet, and columnist, was born in Busan in 1959. He studied at Tokyo Visual Arts and is currently serving as a Collaborative Professor in the Department of Photography and Imaging at Busan Digital University. Honghee has held numerous photography exhibitions both in South Korea and internationally. He was selected as one of Korea's 28 artists and included in Korea's 500 Image Makers in Korea's Art Line 2000 by the Korean Arts Council. Recognized internationally, he was also named one of the 20 world photographers by Nikon. Currently living in Busan, he leads Ilwoo, a photography group active in Seoul, Busan, and abroad.
