Say something about yourself?
My name is Jutharat Pinyodoonyachet. That’s my long thai name but I prefer to be called Poupay. I was born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1992. I started shooting street photography in 2015. At that time, there was a street photography workshop from SPT (Street Photo Thailand). I joined the workshop and started shooting from then.
Later on, I’ve been invited to become one of the members in SPT (Street Photo Thailand) in 2017. It was a big thing for me because many photographers in the collective are my inspiration. I feel honoured to become a part of the group.
What is this series?
The series is called “Un-Organ”. It’s about fragment of body parts in our daily life. I searched for peculiar traces of humanity in reality. Specifically, I looked for details in what we all related; body.
How/When did you start this series?
I’ve been shooting street photography for 2 years but I’ve just realised how much I like shooting fragment of body for about 6 months ago. I revisited my photos many times and started pulling out those photos I felt the most. I found out that I don’t like when a person is fully seen or clear face. I like when people in my photography is anonymous. And I love seeing details of things. So it started when I realised that.
What message do you want to tell the audience?
“There are little surprises hidden everywhere without our notice. Since I started seeing them, there is no such thing as a boring day.”
This is a statement that I wrote in my photography.
The series is all about details. I tried to look for the smallest thing people won’t even notice to say that actually there are so many great things happening around you everyday. I don’t like when photographers say “There’s nothing interesting around here.” I believe that there is always something, you just don’t realise it.
By seeing these little details, I tried to turn the ordinary to extraordinary. Actually that’s what street photographers do. But lately I found that many street photographers focusing more on how to make it extraordinary by mixing too many techniques. So I tried to prove that little detail can be surprising too.
